Entering the house through a short corridor you come to the main lounge on the right. This has parquet wood floors, To the left is a main bathroom. We have the room decorated with paintings by local artists and hand woven tapestries from the Otavalo area, made by Quichua Indian artisans. From the entrance corridor turning right you come to the dining room, this has a hand-cut tile floor, and is a very pleasant place to have a morning cup of coffee amongst your favorite plants, whilst watching the sun stream over the high eastern ridge of the Andes, bringing with it a comfortable warming. A wrought iron door leads to the backyard area which overlooks the rear garden . Occasionally the different birds come to pick on the different fruit trees.
Across from the dining room you come through a small hall where you have the other two bedrooms about the same size. . We use the family room as an office, and this has a telephone and web connection. It has a pleasant view over the front garden and main entrance porch, and is a nice place to watch the many hummingbirds feed on the flowers. From the main corridor going thru the dining room leads into the kitchen. The kitchen is 12 feet by 12 feet, The kitchen cabinets are a regular size. An iron door leads out onto the backyard area from where you have a great views of the Andes easterner ridge and to the south some seventy miles away is permanently snow-covered Mount Cotopaxi, which at 21,000 feet is Ecuador's second highest.
THE GARDENS: Ecuador is a paradise for those interested in nature. I try to keep a good variety of flowers going, as they grow all the year round here. At any one time there are at least sixty plants or shrubs in flower. There are avocados, lemons, tomatoes,tangerines, vegetables.
